Our Data Security technical conference on September 2, 2010 in Zurich was correspondingly well attended. Industry experts informed the nearly 70 participants first hand about how they can better protect themselves and their customers from the potential consequences of data theft.
The topic of data security was examined from various perspectives and the participants were provided with valuable information and tips, in the awareness that ultimately it is a matter of self-protection.
Also explained was what the card organizations require in terms of PCI DSS (Payment Card Industry Data Security Standard) and how these requirements can be implemented in practice.
Christian Schmitz: «We regularly inform our merchants and offer platforms from which they can obtain further information. This knowledge transfer is essential, since every company that accepts card payments is required to ensure the security of the card data during the transmission, processing and storing thereof. It is both in our interest and that of our merchants to prevent (card) data theft.»
The consequences of data theft include financial losses and potentially also damage to the company’s reputation. This risk can be massively reduced through the implementation of and adherence to the PCI DSS guidelines.

The presentations are available in German only.
